Jobs are more specialized classes and require soul crystals. Each job has its own crystal which can be equipped via the Armoury Chest. While using a job, players will still have access to actions from their base class, but also have access to new, job-specific actions. Job and level attribute bonuses coincide with those of the base class. When a job level rises, so, too, does the level of the base class, and vice versa.

Limited jobs[]
There are several key points that distinguish limited jobs from other jobs.
- They function independently of other classes and jobs, starting at level 1 with a maximum level of 80.
- When playing a limited job, it is possible to participate in duties with other players in preformed or undersized parties. However, the following duties will remain inaccessible:
- Duty Roulettes
- The Forbidden Land, Eureka
- It is not possible to change to limited job after entering the instance.
- The Diadem
- It is not possible to change to limited job after entering the instance.
- Squadron Missions
- Deep Dungeons
- PvP, including duels
- It is possible, however, to enter the Wolves' Den as a blue mage.
- Stone, Sky, Sea
- Hall of the Novice
- Limited jobs gain greater experience from battling enemies in the open world than other jobs do.
- No bonuses are granted to experience gained from FATE or guildleve enemies.
- Limited jobs cannot be used to progress through the main scenario.
- Retainers cannot be assigned limited jobs.
