Lower La Noscea is a zone located in La Noscea.
Lower La Noscea, which stretches beyond the Tempest Gate, has historically supplied ships with wood, making it the location of the Lominsan shipbuilding industry. Since woodcutters have relocated to work somewhere else, the area is currently being cleared and tilled for farming.
Geography[]
Moraby Bay[]
Located on Vylbrand's southern shore and includes the cove and its environs, Moraby Bay visible from just below Limsa Lominsa. This breath-taking vista explains why, despite the presence of lethal stinging aureliae, the location is a favorite for trysts.
- Madman Bridge: With Naldiq & Vymelli's in charge of maintaining this bridge, it is claimed that only a man who had lost his senses would cross this area unprepared. Those who continue beyond it, however, run the risk of becoming prey to kobolds and monsters.
- The Eyes: A towering stone outcrop with two hollows cut clean through that appear to monitor onlookers with concealed intent, it is known in part as a post for the Yellowjackets' second levy.
- The Mourning Widow: Even though there used to be a river here that flowed beautifully through land and into the ocean, the Calamity ripped away the rock and soil, leaving just a bare cliff face. The water now cascades downward and lands on the waves below. Locals now refer to the waterfall as the Mourning Widow as they believe these are the tears of people who lost a loved one in the commotion.
- The Tempest Gate: This back entry gets its name from the gales that howl at its doors from the seas, unlike the pleasant winds of the Zephyr Gate.
- Oschon's Embrace: One portion of the peninsula collapsed under the force of the ocean when the Gods' Grip took the brunt of a large wave produced during the Calamity, cutting off the tip from the mainland. Following that, Naldiq & Vymelli's began work on building this massive bridge to span the ravine and reunite the cut-off ports and settlements with the mainland.
Cedarwood[]
Once the site of a powerful forest, Cedarwood's straight, sturdy trees served as the masts and decks of numerous Lominsan ships. However, the land is nearly unrecognizable after many years of logging, and the vegetation has almost entirely changed.
- Red Rooster Stead: The farmers on Red Rooster Stead take pride in their readiness to sacrifice a harvest in exchange for a stronger yield in the next autumn, and will not hesitate to try their agricultural prowess on unfamiliar crops or growing techniques. The gory cockfights that the gamekeepers hold after dark are thought to be the inspiration for the plantation's moniker.
- The Grey Fleet: Perched high atop Widow Cliffs on Vylbrand's southeast coast, this area was constructed to capture the steady southerly winds that blow over the Strait of Merlthor and channel them to power the numerous mills that grind the area's wheat and fill its wool.
- Blind Iron Mines: The Blind Iron Mines' operations have all but ceased, yet at its heyday, the air there was so dense with dust that it rendered men blind.
The Gods' Grip[]
This peninsula, which stretches along the western beaches of Moraby Bay, is said to have been created by the hands of the Oschon the Wanderer and Llymlaen the Navigator. The Nymian Royal Marines surprised an Amdapori host here during the War of the Magi and repelled its attempts to land on the cape. The battle was thereafter dubbed the Battle of the Gods' Grip.
- Moraby Drydocks: Where the main office of Naldiq & Vymelli's is located, shipwrights are currently hard at work on the Victory, the first sizable vessel built following the Calamity.
- The Salt Strand: A tremendous amount of concentrated aether was released from just below the Rhotano Sea's surface when a shard from Dalamud's outer shell struck it, instantly merging with and crystallizing the towering fount of salt water that was ejected during the impact. All of the city-state-funded expeditions inside the inner crater have not yet been successful.
- Candlekeep Quay: This wharf, which was initially constructed for the candlekeeper stationed at Oschon's Torch, is also used to discharge cargo headed for Moraby Drydocks.
- Empty Heart: Waters from Empty Heart, a tiny spring that springs up on the Gods' Grip, are clean and fresh. These sources are uncommon, and when they do appear, a lot of monsters appear—so many, in fact, that they have been known to engage in conflict among themselves just to quench their thirst.
- Oschon's Torch: Oschon's Torch, which bears the Wanderer's name, is located on the opposite side of Moraby Bay from Llymlaen's Ring. Together, the lights warn approaching ships of the rocky coastlines of the bay.[1]
