Middle La Noscea is a zone located in La Noscea.

Middle La Noscea borders Galadion Bay and is distinguished by its undulating hills. Looking out from Limsa Lominsa, the area appears pastoral. The Calamity, however, left a scar on the terrain in the form of a large cliff that divides the northern and southern regions.

Geography[]

Zephyr Drift[]

Just past the Zephyr Gate, this grassland area gets its name from the same westerly air as the egress.

  • Galadion Bay: Named after the enormous ship that transported the founders of Limsa Lominsa from The Northern Empty, recent research has revealed that during the Fifth Astral Era, it was referred to as the Bay of Nym.
  • The Rogue River: One of three streams that run through middle La Noscea, this river did not exist prior to the Calamity, which split the ground and provided a new route for the water. Early in the Seventh Umbral Era, thieves used the river to convey their looted goods, and their actions gave the waterway its current moniker.
  • The La Thagran Checkpoint: This checkpoint was established by the Maelstrom to monitor the La Thagran Eastroad, which runs through the center of La Noscea. Since kobold encroachment is not common in the area, the Grand Company has since given the post to the Yellowjackets.

Summerford[]

Water rushed up from a subterranean vein streaming forth from the mountains of O'Ghomoro to fill the rifts that the Calamity created on the surface of the region. Middle La Noscea is currently traversed by two new rivers, which have created a fertile farmland where produce always flourishes in the abundance of summer. Camp Bearded Rock, a Yellowjacket outpost that was expelled from La Noscea when Bahamut unleashed its flames, was once located in Summerford.

  • Summerford Farms: One of Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn's first orders as Admiral was to clear lawful swathes of territory for brand-new Lominsan colonies. One of those places is Summerford Farms, known for its huge orange orchards and for the man-made bridges that must be built over the Rogue River as it swells in the late spring due to runoff from Mt. O'Ghomoro.
  • Seasong Grotto: A prehistoric rock that is located within a small cavern south of Summerford Farms, where a poem called the Sailors' Requiem is engraved.
  • The Agelyss River: This river, the second to be produced by the Calamity, flows in the direction of Agelyss Wise.
  • The Cookpot: The people have come to refer to this area of land as the Cookpot and worry about the problems that may be simmering inside due to the peculiar stone wall that surrounds it.

Three-Malm Bend[]

This region spans the gap known as the Descent and is a curved stretch of land about three malms long. Its lowest point is just a few feet above sea level.

  • The Descent: This massive gap, which was left as a deep scar by the Calamity, engulfed the Nym River and the area it formerly flowed through, taking many lives with it. To prevent any more people from falling over the edge and smashing into the rocks below, the Descent was given its terrible moniker.
  • The Skylift: Middle La Noscea, once a never-ending field of flat, rocky meadows, is now divided by the Descent, a vertical cliff. Lominsan engineers built the Skylift, a tower of wooden scaffolding rigged with pulleys, winches, and lighter-than-air balloons, to sustain overland trade routes from the easterly outposts of Aleport and Bronze Lake.
  • The De Nevelle Checkpoint: The Maelstrom patrols the route leading to the hamlet of Wineport from the De Nevelle Checkpoint. The post is significantly more intensively staffed than the La Thagran Checkpoint to keep an eye out for the Garlean soldiers that have marched into eastern La Noscea.
  • Woad Whisper Canyon: Five years prior, Woad Whisper Canyon was little more than a small valley. However, after the Calamity emptied Bronze Lake and significantly changed the course of the Nym River, the canyon quickly transformed into a yawning abyss. Workers from Summerford Farms and the Skylift frequently take a break in the refreshing mists of the falls on hot days, if not attacked by thieves.
  • The Nym River: This river, which emerges from Bronze Lake, bears the name of the antiquated Nymian temple unearthed in its headwaters.
  • The Foremast: No explorer is allowed admission through the Foremast, the newest Yellowjacket watchtower, which leads into the capital proper. Like the Mizzenmast, its name is nautical in origin and refers to Limsa Lominsa's determination to take the initiative in battle, as well as the mast that is closest to a ship's bow.[1]
