North Shroud is a zone located in The Black Shroud.

The Gods' Quiver's main battleground is the North Shroud, which borders the Ishgardian province of Coerthas. Here, they must resist and protect Gridania against Ixali war balloons that descend from Xelphatol in the northeast.

Geography[]

Treespeak[]

Treespeak is a region right past Gridania's Yellow Serpent Gate, so named for the way its branches cling together. The rustling that occurs as a breeze blows through the canopy resembles whispering elementals.

  • Treespeak Stables: The stables at Treespeak are run by Moogle's Gift Mounts. The noble birds that are fostered and grown to adulthood at Bentbranch Meadows become beautiful steeds thanks to its chocobokeeps.
  • E-Tatt's Spire: This watchspire, like its brothers, is named after a Padjal who greatly advanced conjury, E-Tatt-Rai, a legendary Gridanian hero.
  • Blessed Bud: The Blessed Bud emerged from a stump and was believed to be an elemental's home. It is stated that onlookers can sense its vibrancy.

Peacegarden[]

This area pays tribute to the mages who first communicated with the elementals and made it possible for Gridanians to live in the Twelveswood.

  • Hyrstmill: Hyrstmill is a vital supply base for the Gods' Quiver even though it is simply a little hamlet on the edge of the North Shroud and is dangerously close to Ixali territory. Along with creatures that seem out of place, such the deepvoid deathmouse, Hyrstmill is also surrounded by several historic ruins.

Alder Springs[]

With the exception of its name, the ancient holt's once-vast grove of enormous alder trees was burned to ashes by the Calamity's fires.

  • Fallgourd Float: The Fallgourd Float was constructed on top of a lake to show that a hamlet does not need to cut down trees to secure space. The residents have grown rather attached to their floating home, despite the fact that it may look unusual to others.
  • The Bobbing Cork: An inn in Fallgourd Float, it makes the claim that its beds would make weary travelers feel as light as corks floating on quiet lakes.
  • Florentel's Spire: Eugenia, for whom another watchtower has been named, is claimed to have been the lover of Florentel, the legendary hero whose name the spire carries.
  • Finders' Bluff: This modest hut was constructed by Ul'dah miners as they explored the nearby mineral-rich areas.

Proud Creek[]

Recently, the area to the north of Fallgourd Float has been overrun by lxals, who appear to be multiplying every day.

  • Gelmorra Ruins: The capital of Gelmorra originally stood beneath this region, and tunnels ran deep beneath it. The vast underground city is now largely reduced to rubble.
  • Ixali Logging Grounds: The lxal have never recovered from being exiled from the Black Shroud, and they still kill the old sentinels that are encroaching on the edge of the forest. The illegally obtained lumber is fastened to balloons inflated with lxali airstones and flown to the beast tribe's homeland during the night as it is too heavy to be dragged back to their villages in Natalan or distant Xelphatol.
  • Eugenia's Spire: This spire, like the other watchtowers, is inhabited by the White Rams and bears the name of a Gridanian hero. The group of Quivermen stationed at this outpost are near to Ixali territory and frequently and ferociously engage in combat.[1]
