The Dravanian Hinterlands is a zone in Dravania.
The Dravanian hinterlands are located in the westernmost regions of Abalathia's Spine. The Thaliak River, which flows through the region, contributes to the area's comparatively rich vegetation. As the seat of the former city-state of Sharlayan, the area gained considerable notoriety, but in the fifteen years since the evacuation, this has diminished. The settlement itself is now mostly deserted, a relic from a bygone era gradually being taken back by nature.
Geography[]
The Makers' Quarter[]
Historically, the Makers' Quarter was inhabited by skilled craftspeople, whose varied workshops filled the streets with the sounds of their work. Her artisans created an amazing array of goods using the finest materials they could locate in the Collectors' Quarter.
- The Arkhitekton: This workshop used to be home to Sharlayan masters who created aetherytes inside its halls, but today it is occupied by the Illuminati, a vicious group of goblins who plan to use the old technologies inside for their own sinister purposes.
- The Daggers: A region of the hinterlands where the earth is covered in groups of dagger-shaped stone columns. Sharlayan scholars had long engaged in a bitter dispute over whether the name was too informal and straightforward, but no alternative was ever chosen because of growing suggestions.
The Collectors' Quarter[]
All individuals who harvested the land's bounty lived in the Collectors' Quarter, including miners, botanists, and fishermen. It is stated that merchandise from all across the realm filled its stalls, and as a result, this area of the city was never quiet from patrons.
- Bigwest Shortstop: The goblins started out here as their first camp when they moved into the Dravanian hinterlands. It served as their operational base when they established the town of Idyllshire and is being used as a watchtower to detect any indications of the Illuminati.
The Answering Quarter[]
This village of Sharlayan extends along the western bank of the Thaliak. It evokes the intellectual cities of the past, housing Saint Mocianne's Arboretum and serving as a hub for learning and academic endeavors.
- Saint Mocianne's Arboretum: Once home to wildlife and flora collected from throughout the realm, this botanical garden constructed by the Sharlayans produced many discoveries about our natural world via study. Regretfully, during their departure, it was abandoned, allowing the abundant life inside to flourish unbridled.
- The Asulon: Meaning "holy ground," it was a location dedicated to letting the curious mind roam free from the constraints of daily existence. There was an order to forget all titles and positions from the outside world once one entered its doors.
The Ruling Quarter[]
The Ruling Quarter consisted of many fine residences and villas on a plateau to the south. It is clear that persons in positions of authority resided there, including Forum members, renowned academics, and Archons.
- Quickspill Delta: After the inhabitants left for their homeland, Sharlayan's flood control system broke down for lack of maintenance, and the waters finally overflowed. Running fast through a triangle of land, the goblins in the area call this place the Quickspill Delta.
- Matoya's Cave: It is not easy to stroll into Matoya's secluded and peaceful residence. Her poroggo familiars will attack anyone who approaches the cave's mouth, which is concealed as a sheer rock wall. She raises a variety of mushrooms at the nearby Mushroomery for use in her spells.
- The Path of Knowing: Once upon a time, this enormous bridge served as a busy thoroughfare for scholars and curators traveling to and from the Great Gubal Library. When the Calamity changed the terrain, some of the walkway collapsed and crumbled, seriously damaging its stone pillars.
- The Great Gubal Library: A vast library built by the Sharlayans to contain the vast amount of knowledge they had accumulated during their travels throughout the realm. It is rumored that banned literature still sleep in scaled-off vaults below, despite the fact that the great majority of the books that previously graced its shelves were taken with the exodus back to the motherland.
- Alexander: Called upon by the clandestine group of goblin intellectuals known as the Illuminati, this primal manifests as a massive steel statue that emits steam.
- The Tipped Ewer: The location of the melted snows that produce the many tributaries that join to form the powerful Thaliak River as they flow down the mountain from the source of Abalathia's Spine flow. The river's name is supposedly derived from the name of the deity it bears and the magical pitcher that released its streams of wisdom.[1]
