The Northern Empty

Beyond the Bloodbrine Sea, across Abalathia's Spine, and the shattered seacoast of the Farreach lies the Northern Empty—a large body of water that is almost totally devoid of islands, with the exception of two significant chains.

The first and northernmost is a remote archipelago called Aerslaent (meaning "first land"), which is the home of the Roegadyn Sea Wolf tribe. Some of the earliest settlers in Limsa Lominsa are thought to have come from these islands, landing on Vylbrand after abortive raiding attempts in the southern Rhotano Sea.

Old Sharlayan, the country from which people arrived to create a satellite city-state in the Dravanian hinterlands in the early Sixth Astral Era, is located on the second group of islands further to the west.
