The Yellowjackets are one of Limsa Lominsa's four main pirate organizations.
Formerly a branch of the Knights of the Barracuda, the Yellowjackets now protect Lominsan territory and its borders. After the Calamity, they gained their independence, after which the Maelstrom then provided them with new responsibilities.
Formerly known as little more than infantry, the Yellowjackets get their moniker from a common nickname that was picked because of the vivid yellow overcoats that soldiers are required to wear while on duty. When the force separated with the Knights of the Barracuda, the name was formally adopted.

Reyner Hansred[]

Reyner, formerly of the Knights of the Barracuda, commands the Yellowjackets. He has never sailed under a pirate flag, but instead started his career as an officer under his tutor, Commodore Sthalmann of the Barracudas. Reyner temporarily achieved the rank of commodore fifteen summers after Sthalmann's dishonorable dismissal. Admiral Merlwyb granted him permission to stay on when he earned their trust as a leader; typically, admirals nominate their close friends to serve as commodores. The Midlander has remained a member of Merlwyb's close-knit group ever since.
Reyner, who is currently 38 years old, remains steadfast in his work. However, he also has a softer side and cares for an old cat that he once housed in a warship's hold.[1]
